ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
IIUM was established on 23 May 1983 and founded upon Islamic principles where Islamic values are inculcated into all disciplines. The university is sponsored by eight governments and the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and considered as one of the top five Islamic universities of the world.
IIUM has been recognized as “The Premier International Islamic Research University” by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and is one of the best public universities in Malaysia with a specific mission of Integration, Islamization, Internationalization and Comprehensive Excellence.
IIUM offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees courses at its 14 faculties or "Kulliyyah". By studying here, you will be able to make friends with international students and experience a diversity of backgrounds and cultures. Since 1987, IIUM has produced more than 70,000 graduates and undergraduates from more than 100 countries around the world.

Undergraduate Intake through Open Channel
IIUM is now opening a direct entry route to the university through the IIUM Open Channel, aiming to provide another alternative for Malaysian candidates with Diploma, STPM, STAM, Matriculation, Foundation and other equivalent qualifications.
This initiative offers an opportunity for highly qualified students to enroll in IIUM’s esteemed programmes across various Kulliyyah. It supports the national vision of fostering knowledge, creativity, and innovation while developing world-class human capital to help Malaysia reach high-income status.
The Open Channel is a great optional route and a worthwhile investment as many students have already enjoyed the opportunity to pursue their dream programme with a brighter career prospects.

Less Competition
You will have greater chances to enrol for programme of your choice as you do not have to compete for the programme and university through UPUOnline. This is mainly because there are many students who obtain high grades in STPM/ Diploma will apply and compete for popular programmes especially in Engineering and others.

No "Merit" Requirement for Entry
Unlike UPU, the application through the Direct Channel does not require the consideration of the applicant's merit points as a prerequisite for admission. Students only need to meet the minimum entry requirements of the programme as set by the respective university.

Direct Offer from the University
Applicants will receive an offer directly from the university if they meet the set admission requirements and will follow the same programme and enjoy all facilities as other students who receive an offer through UPU.
